The National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg,
PA commissioned this life-size standing portrait. The original canvas
is 8 feet by 46 inches. The objective: make this great American
president real. Old photos give us his grey image, but this painting
is not a copy of any. It doesn't convey the flat lighting of the
19th century photographers. If you want to see how Mr. Lincoln might
appear if he stood before you today, visit his room at the Civil
War Museum and see for yourself.
