God has many gifts but here flows the sweet gift of water, without which a man cannot establish a homestead. On the frontier, lowland was cleared for crops but a cabin might not be as well defended there as it might be when located partly up a hill; better yet it have a protecting wall at its rear and a permanent water supply so near. This looks like a good spot.
(look for the cabin at the top)
Reproductions of this painting were produced. This was my first print with The Greenwich Workshop.
