The 60th Royal American Regiment came
to the colonies circa 1755, during the French and Indian war. They
learned, through misfortune, fighting here was not conducted according
to European standards. Rarely did opposing forces confront one another
open meadow style in formal rank.
John's two paintings, "A Daughter's
Touch" (shown here) and its companion painting, "Fatherly
Advice" deal with lighter moments. A daughter proudly makes
sure her father looks his best whether he is off to battle or some
festive occasion.
